Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone” summary- Harry Potter, a neglected orphan, discovers on his eleventh birthday that he is a wizard and is invited to attend Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. There, he makes close friends, uncovers the truth about his parents’ mysterious deaths, and learns about a powerful magical object called the Sorcerer’s Stone. As Harry navigates magical classes and strange happenings, he uncovers a plot by the dark wizard Voldemort to steal the Stone and regain power. With bravery and teamwork, Harry and his friends stop Voldemort, marking the beginning of Harry’s journey in the wizarding world.
Lesson Intentions: Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone Literature Unit includes vocabulary words for each chapter reading with a different activity. The activities include various writing prompts, working with personification, country research, making a coat of arms, writing a letter, compare and contrast, making a magic wand, working with limericks, potion mixing, drawing a map, working with synonyms, writing acrostic poetry, working with metaphors, writing diamanté poems, and making a Harry Potter game.
Material included: Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone book, 50 pages of follow-up work, a work journal, color pencils, and pencil sharpener.
