Kit Includes: "The Kindness Quilt,” hardback story book by Nancy Elizabeth Wallace; illustrated directions; 7 laminated instruction cards for some more difficult steps; fifteen 4 ½ by 4 ½ fabric squares (they will choose twelve to use); 12 ½ by 16 ½ inch fabric backing; 12 ½ by 16 ½ batting; 1 needle in a container; 1 spool of thread; 4 quilting clips; a pair of scissors; twenty 4 by 4 sheets of paper (15 mixed pattern and solid colors, 5 white); 1 glue stick; colored pencils; a ruler; a pencil sharpener; and two 12 by 18 pieces of paper (will come rolled, lay out and put books on for a day or two to smooth out). (Optional-there are sections where you will need an iron. Should you not have one available, we will give you an alternate method to smooth out sections). This activity helps build the following skills: concentration, coordination, small muscle development, eye-hand coordination, fine motor control, development of three finger grasp, care of self, and left to right progression for reading and writing development. Your child/student will learn the following stitches: backstitch, running stitch, and blind stitch.
Optional purchase: crafting tray to hold pieces (colors vary)
Recommended purchase: It might be fun to shop for a thimble with your child/student, especially if you are working with a younger student that is more likely to poke themselves.
