Restart Literature Unit
About the book: “Restart” is a thought-provoking book perfect for students/children ages 8–14 and serves as an excellent conversation starter about bullying, redemption, and personal growth. It aligns well with character education and anti-bullying discussions, making it an ideal choice for broaching such an important topic today. “Restart” by Gordon Korman is a compelling novel that explores the impact of bullying, identity, and second chances. Chase Ambrose, once the school’s biggest bully, loses his memory after a fall and throughout the book slowly pieces together who he was and who he wants to be.
Lesson Intentions: The "Restart" Literature Unit includes work on each chapter reading including vocabulary words and various activities. The activities include journal prompts, noun and adjective work, sentence writing, a blank canvas activity, music activity, Emojis charting activity, writing a video scene, character’s point-of-view, synonym and antonym work, idioms activity, war hero activity, making predictions, interview activity, anti-bullying poster activity, compare and contrast, timeline activity, art activity, creating settings, parts of a story hands-on activity (climax, etc.), and six different fun end of book projects to choose from.
Material included: The "Restart" Literature Unit includes 58 pages of follow-up work, a book(s), a work journal, color pencils, scissors, ribbon or string, and a pencil sharpener.
