Lesson Intentions: This kit will provide your child/student hands-on activities to understand and learn about the parts of a tree and become more familiar with different leaf characteristics. Your child/student will conduct a mini-experiment (you will need extra supplies for this) and start to learn the steps of the scientific method. This kit will help build your child’s/student’s vocabulary awareness and visual discrimination.
Kit Includes: Illustrated lesson plan with three main lessons and additional activities (8 pages including worksheets and a mini-experiment); “The Seasons of Arnold’s Apple Tree,” by Gail Gibbons storybook; a wooden tree puzzle; 8 laminated tree parts definition cards; 6 laminated leaf types definition cards; 5 laminated tree part labels for lesson 2; full-size laminated tree template; 1 tree color sheet (you may copy); 2 tree parts worksheets (you may make extra copies); 2 leaf characteristics worksheets (you may make extra copies); 1 tree seasons worksheet; a 4 x 4-inch nature journal; a 3 pack of crayons for leaf and bark rubbings; and a box of pencils.
