Verbs, Adverbs, and Prepositions

Lesson Intentions: Ability to identify different types of verbs, prepositions, and adverbs in everyday use; build grammatical awareness; differentiate linking and helping verbs; further develop visual acuity; development of reading and writing skills; language development; developing the ability to symbolize and record words; preparation for sentence analysis and sentence composition; and to experience grammar starting with concrete to abstract exercises. 

Grades First to Fourth: You will come back to this lesson kit for years to come.  The stages of lessons can be presented in a few weeks and/or a few years, depending on the skill level of your child/student. These are lessons that should always be refreshed.

Materials included in lesson kit: Grammar symbols for verb (1 wooden and 1 paper), preposition (1 wooden and 1 paper), and adverb (1 wooden and 1 paper); a 10 page illustrated lesson plan in an organized folder; verb, preposition, and adverb definition cards; 3 verb activities; 3 preposition activities; 2 adverb activities; the following objects to use for various grammar activities: a small chair, a small person, a crayon, a button, and a jewel; a box of colored pencils, pencil sharpener, 3 dry erase markers (red, green, and orange); and a journal.
